Country Études

Three full country pieces, from porch strum to hybrid-picked runs.

3 lessons

Time to play real country guitar pieces. This chapter gives you three complete études, each with an intro, a verse, a solo and an outro, that pull together everything from Country Rhythm and Country Lead.

Porch Light Sunday is a relaxed piece in G major, all in open position: boom-chick verses, a walkup and a solo that hammers the minor third onto the major third. Mile Marker Ramble, in A major, adds hybrid-picked boom-chick, bass walks between every chord, chicken pickin' clucks, double-stops and pedal-steel bends. Switchyard Sparks is the flashy finale in E major: open-string cascades, a train-beat verse and a fast sixteenth-note solo with clucks, steel bends and a rolling B7 arpeggio.

Every étude plays as tab in your browser with a click, and the tempo ladder lets you learn each section slowly before you bring it up to speed. A checkpoint ends each piece. Along the way you learn to practise the joins between sections, so the beat never stops and you can play a whole country tune from first note to last.
