Metal Études

Three complete metal pieces, from first chugs to fast harmonic-minor runs.

3 lessons

This chapter puts everything from Metal Rhythm and Metal Lead to work in three complete metal guitar pieces. Each étude has an intro, a verse, a solo and an outro, so you practise what real songs demand: switching from palm-muted riffs to open lead lines without dropping a beat.

Cinder Gate is your first full piece: E minor power chords, steady eighth-note chugs and a short pentatonic solo with a bend. Ashfall Sentinel moves to E Phrygian dominant, with tremolo picking, a gallop riff, an arpeggio-based solo and a squealing pinch harmonic. Obsidian Spiral is the final test: a pedal-point intro, a tight sixteenth-note verse and a four-bar E harmonic minor solo with fast runs and arpeggios.

Each étude plays as tab in your browser with a click, and the tempo ladder lets you learn every section slowly before pushing the speed. A checkpoint ends each piece. The lessons also show you how to practise the joins between sections, so by the end you can play a whole metal song from start to finish, in time.
